Created for the SO Festival which is held each year in Lincolnshire, 'Parts Unknown' traces the voyage of Sir John Franklin and his crew and their subsequent disappearance.

During our research for this piece, we discovered that their existed at the time a great interest as to what had become of this expedition and it was the subject of many more expeditions to find what had become of Franklin and his two shiploads of men. Many lectures were given and to illustrate these lectures, the medium of the time was the magic lantern. We contacted the Magic Lantern Society in the UK and with their assistance and encouragement we were put in contact with Lester Smith, who kindly allowed us to photograph his slide collection on the subject for this project.

The poetry read out comes mainly from 'Lady Franklins Lament', a ballad written by Franklins widow to raise funds to furnish the expeditions to find her husband.
